Post office closures
| "Despite the Royal Mail and its network of 14,000 Post Offices having a first class postal service, it is being broken up. To understand why and how you can help if your Post Office is threatened with closure, read on" | |
| Since 1997, European Union (EU) Articles and Directives have forced the Royal Mail to surrender most of its profitable business to private companies, (mainly German and Dutch). This deliberate decision has made the Post Office lose money and rely on British Government subsidies which are beginning to be withdrawn. In 2009 it will worsen when all postal activity must be opened to privatisation. That’s why Post Offices are being shut and one of them could be yours. |

| The Post Offices are closing because of the EU with the collusion of the Labour Government. No other reason, it’s that simple, despite what other political parties may tell you with their gestures of support. If you’re being told anything else, you’re being misled. It is planned for 2,500 Post Offices to be closed in the next nine months and we have learnt from a reliable source that the eventual figure over the next few years could be as high as 10,000 closures, which would effectively mean the end of the Royal Mail. | |

hypocritical to say the least. Listen to Markus Ferber, the rapporteur on EU postal services, giving a speech in Strasbourg on

UKIP believe that the people most affected by this, (you, the customer), should have had a democratic vote. In some areas this is what happened through a mechanism called a 'Parish Poll'. The first of these took place on the 12th of June in Saint Breward in Cornwall. The
results of the poll in Saint Breward were quite astounding. On a
high turnout, (60%), 100% (438) villagers voted to keep their
