   Post Office Closures

"Despite the Royal Mail and its network of 14,000 Post Offices having a first class postal service, it is being broken up. To understand why and how you can help if your Post Office is threatened with closure, read on"

Since 1997, European Union (EU) Articles & Directives have forced the Royal Mail to surrender most of its profitable business to private companies, (mainly German and Dutch). This deliberate decision has made the Post Office lose money and rely on British Government subsidies which are beginning to be withdrawn. In 2009 it will worsen when all postal activity must be opened to privatisation. That’s why Post Offices are being shut and one of them could be yours.

The Post Offices are closing because of the EU with the collusion of the Labour Government. No other reason, it’s that simple, despite what other political parties may tell you with their gestures of 'support'. If you’re being told anything else, you’re being misled. It is planned for 2,500 Post Offices to be closed in the next nine months.

   How UKIP are helping

The Government are going through the motions of a 'consultation' period which lasts just six weeks. UKIP believe that the people most affected by this, (you, the customer), should have a democratic vote. In many areas there is a mechanism for such situations already in place called a 'Parish Poll'. The first of these will be taking place in Cornwall and we will have more information on this shortly. If you need help and guidance on holding your own Parish Poll together with literature for distribution please ring us on 0800 587 6 587 and ask for Trevor Colman.
