The Lib-Dhims: the Diversity Party

Liberal Democrat Dove from Above

From Andrew Duff Lib Dem MEP for the Eastern Counties:

"If the English can be defeated then the opposition in Prague will disappear"

Comment:

We can make Mr Duff disappear at the next European elections.

Dhim and Dhimmerer? From Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather:

At the recent Islamic rally she said the cartoons were "a juvenile posturing exercise" and "Nothing was done to further the cause of liberal values or the freedom of speech - the publication of the cartoons was just plain racist,"

Comment:

The Libs do Dhimmitude. Whose sensibilities are being protected here? Some people are really offended that the memory of all those people who died fighting for freedom is being debased for political cowardice and expediency.

Lib Dhim Image:

We are as pure as the driven snow, nice, not nasty, and unlike the other parties, are the sleaze free option when it come politics.

Comment:

No Comment......!!!

From Lynne Featherstone Liberal Democrat MP for Hornsey and Wood Green and a local councillor for Haringey:

Getting elected as a councillor was great "because the money allows you to employ a cleaner, pay for more babysitting hours, etc".........'

Comment:

Godfrey Bloom should award her his fridge magnet of the year award!

From Richard Smith Lib Dhim Leader of Bournemouth Council:

'she had made a great contribution to the work of the council.....'

Comment:

This was referring to Rachel Palma, a Lib Dem councillor for Kinson North who failed to attend a meeting for 4 months and still claimed her 'basic' council salary.

Haven't we heard this before?

'Only the Lib Dems or (Fill in with whichever party you can think of) can win here.'

Comment:

The needle has stuck - time to think of a better reason to vote Lib Dem?

From Chris Davies Leader of Lib Dhim MEPs

'Let's get one thing clear, the myths are false. Far from the European Union being a superstate it is not even a superpower'

From Chris Davies Leader of Lib Dhim MEPs Take 2

He has stated that all drugs, including heroin and crack cocaine should be legalised and sold publicly.

Comment:

What are those Lib Dems on?

From the National Leadership:

'Liberal Democrats have for many years campaigned for a Regional system of Government, able to take important strategic decisions as close to people as possible: local solutions for local communities. Currently £22Bn of public monies are spent in the West Midlands every year, half controlled by local government and the remainder by Quangos and government departments, with no democratic control. By cutting out the Boards and executives of these Ministerial appointed bodies more than sufficient savings could be made to fund the Regional Assembly.' 'Liberal Democrats support elected regional assemblies'

From Andrew Garrett, (Liberal Democrat prospective MP for Bournemouth East):

'Currently we are part of a massive South West region stretching from Cornwall to Gloucestershire to the border with Hampshire. But most people agree that we have far more in common with Southampton and Portsmouth than we do with Plymouth and Bristol' 'For Bournemouth that will mean the Government should look carefully at what the regional boundaries really should be. My view is that Bournemouth would be better served by a much smaller Central South region. Bournemouth and Poole already have a history of working with Southampton and Portsmouth to help strengthen our economy.'

Comment:

So, on a National Level the Lib Dims are all for Regional Assemblies, but locally they want to back pedal slightly and make them smaller. What is wrong with the Town and County councils we already have in place? This is real Lib Dem policy wanting far off, distant government as opposed to their cuddly fluffy image of local politicians posing for as many photo opportunities with sick puppies and cats up trees as possible.

News just in: German unemployment rose to a seven year high in December and pessimism mounted about prospects for Europe's largest economy. The Unemployment rate now stands at over 12 per cent with more than 5 million people out of work

Comment:

Oh no they're not!

Cons - The party formerly known as the Tories

Conservatives Spluttering Torch

From David Davis the last great hope for the 'Tory Eurosceptics':

When asked about unlimited migration he said "I am afraid there is nothing we can do about that”

Fin:

There is nothing to add to this.

From Toby Horton former constituency Chairman to William Hague:

“I didn’t leave the Conservative Party, the Conservative Party has left me”

Departure:

The Gravy train is losing its' passengers.

From Dave:

“It's time we admitted that there's more to life than money.”

Hello!

True - There's all those celebrity parties one can attend where you can spend it like Beckham. Wealth, fame and riches don't come into it!

From Dave:

“UKIP is a party of closet racists and fruitcakes.”

Brickbat:

Wot - no tea and sympathy from the nasty party? - and we thought you've changed!

From Dave:

"I want to be part of the European Union (but) I want that European Union to change."

Rewind:

Sounds Familiar? "We want to be in Europe but not run by Europe" was one of John Major's favourite hits.

From Francis Maude:

The Conservative Party is changing....... There is now a new home for Liberal Democrat voters.

Translation:

None Needed

From Dave:

In a speech in Hereford, Cameron, referring to the Lib Dems said that the two parties now had similar views on a range of issues including the environment, civil liberties and even Europe.

Translation:

Because we have alienated our congregation so much the even Broader Church will accept anyone like us who doesn't have a policy.

From 'Double D':

"I’ve literally got a very clear view on the European Union which doesn’t involve withdrawal”.

Reality:

Davis should have gone to specsavers!

From Philip Davies, MP for Shipley:

"I must admit I have no time for people who join the UK Independence Party – the only Party that is going to come back and actually deliver withdrawal from the European Union at some point is the Conservative Party”.

Comment:

Another 30 year learning curve ahead? That is unless he hasn't been de-selected by then or perhaps kept on as a useful token 'sceptic'.

From Francis Maude Chairman:

"David Davis was bang on the money in his conference speech when he quoted Ronald Reagan’s Eleventh Commandment: “Never speak ill of a fellow Conservative"..............How can we expect people to think good things of us if we don’t think and say good things of each other?”.

Comment:

Was it the Pot or the Kettle who created the nasty tag?

From Caroline Spelman Con MP:

"Local people are finding that decisions directly affecting their lives are being taken by regional assemblies that they cannot hold to account. Who are these assemblies answerable to? They are answerable to nobody—except the Deputy Prime Minister."

Comment:

Completely disingenuous - Why are the Cons supporting the regional assemblies by sitting on them and participating in their decisions?

From Theresa 'nasty but nice' May:

"There is no question whatever of the Conservative Party taking us out of the EU."

Comment:

Wake up and smell the Tories.

From Kenneth Clarke - the BBC/Labour/Guardian Poster boy:

That was then - "It has done what I thought it would do: speed up the essential restructuring of western European economies. It has also stimulated trade and investment across borders. It is leading to liberalisation in every area. Euroland economies are achieving rapidly accelerating rates of growth. I never thought that the disadvantages of our having to wait would become apparent so soon."

This is now - Clarke admitted that the euro had "so far" failed to lead to the economic boom across the euro zone. He conceded, there had been "considerable teething problems" he had not foreseen.

Comment:

Would you ever want this man in charge of your economy?

From Dominic Grieve Conservative junior on Home Affairs:

"I have to say that I find the suicide bombings totally explicable in terms of the level of anger which many members of the Muslim community seem to have about a large number of things."

Comment:

You could be forgiven into mistaking this for a Lib-Dem quote?

From the Conservative Group for Europe Magazine:

This is from a guide for Ken Clarke supporters (Federalist Europhiles) standing for selection in constituency Hustings meetings that are choosing Tory MEP candidates. It reads as follows:
"In current times it is important to be virulently Euro sceptic in your rhetoric and if this means concealing your real beliefs - don't worry. Remember two things; you are a politician, so lying comes naturally, and secondly, it is just for one night. Tomorrow they will have forgotten your name, so you can go on being a federalist with a clear conscience."

And From Lord Peter Thornycroft:

" The British people must be led, slowly and unconsciously into abandonment of their traditional economic defences, NOT ASKED........"

Comment:

This is why you cannot trust the Tories on anything.

Hear Michael Howard:

Click the Arrow - - -

From Michael Howard:

'First, families - not government - should decide how to they run their lives..................................grandparents who may have already brought up several children were not made to "feel welcome" as child minders. Instead of having to retrain, they should be offered fast track courses to bring them up to date with childcare skills.'

Translation:

OK, we are not really into social engineering like those New Lab clones but grandparents who have always looked after their own and their children's offspring will now be offered courses (at the taxpayers expense) on how to look after the kids. We are slavishly following Labour yet again with their 'State Run Baby Farms' idea. We will give you extra money for child-minding which you will have to pay for in Tax which is bribing you to vote for us with your own money. Lots of new administrative jobs in the Civil Service will be created. Never mind pensions our focus groups have said that grandparents prefer to baby-sit to earn a few extra pennies.

From Michael Howard Take 2:

'I believe that the people to be big, and the State to be small. Government should be accountable to people, not people to government.'

(After the Tories came out in favour of them, sources within the Tory party have said Mr Howard had always been in favour of ID cards, and tried to introduce them when he was Home Secretary)

Tories abolish I.D.S. - (To get rid of their Leader) - Tories vote for I.D.S. (After being too frightened to oppose Labour on the Poll I.D.)

Comment:

Yet more Howard and Tory Flip-Flops.

From Michael Howard Take 3:

When he was asked on Channel five recently whether he would allow another referendum on our continuing membership of the E.U. he said he wouldn't allow it if he were Prime Minister.

In places like Harwich in Essex where there is a strong UKIP following he is turning a blind eye to Tory candidates who are campaigning on a pledge to withdraw from the European Union.

Comment:

Another Howard Flip-Flop or just spinning a lie to the Gallery?

From Bournemouth East Conservatives:

'The overwhelming vote against a Regional Assembly in the north east reflects a Britain that has no appetite for more government, more red tape and more politicians.

Were a Regional Assembly established here in the South West, powers would move away from Bournemouth to Bristol at a tune of £41m a year. This would not only increase council taxes, it would distance the people from those who are supposed to represent them.................................The Lib Dems and Labour should review their policy of introducing such an expensive talking shop and focus their attention on returning the millions of pounds in government grants that have been redirected from councils in the south of England to those in the north.'

Comment:

Where have you been? The Phantom SW Regional Assembly has existed for a long time and we still are waiting to hear if Conservative Councillors are going to be withdrawn from all of them.

New Lab Ban:

New Labour Rose Foul Smelling and Thorny

From Sophie Howe New Labour candidate in Wales:

On being asked why hospital waiting lists have gotten longer? "Because we have been focussing on well-being rather than illness"

Diagnosis:

According to plans, 5 years is not long enough.......

From New Labour candidate Rachel Reeves:

"Support ID cards to help our security and beat benefit fraud. Back investment in tough immigration controls"

Security Check:

Happiness is an investment in the police state.

From Andy Burnham Labour MP:

"It is part of being a good citizen to prove who you are day in day out"

ID Check:

Socialist Big Brother comes clean.

From Tony Blair on Glorifying Terrorism:

A ban on glorification, Tony Blair said, was "absolutely vital if we're to defend this country successfully."

Reality Check:

So which party in Government gave taxpayers money to Sinn Fein in the form of a Westminster allowance?

From Unison General Secretary, Dave Prentis:

"We all pay for each other’s pensions...."

Pay dirt:

Err......No Dave; the private sector pays for their own and the public sectors pensions except under a communist system.

From Ken Livingstone:

"....only a ghastly dehumanised moron would want to get rid of the Routemaster".

Payback:

The famous bus has now been mothballed thanks to the EU and Ken. Yes, above we have a politician speaking the truth.

From A Spokesman for Mr Jack McConnell:

"....we have one of the best education systems in the world - we are rated third in OECD (developed) countries".

Reality:

New figures just released show thousands of youngsters are failing to achieve basic levels of numeracy and literacy in Scotland.

From John Prescott:

"....if I could correct just one fact".

Comment:

Prescott speaks the truth!

From Lord Falconer:

"More wheel clamping would be a good idea"

Comment:

The Cowboys become legit.

From Our Tone:

Bliar said when he came to power he would be "tough on sleaze and tough on the causes of sleaze" and "sack any Labour MP caught with his nose in the trough. Without exception, without dithering and without delay"

Comment:

Another Weapon of Mass Deception.

From John Prescott:

I am giving you a guarantee to maintain or increase green belt land in every region of England.

Reality:

The deputy prime minister has just given the go-ahead for one of the largest building programmes ever allowed in the green belt!

From The Labour Party:

Clarke is the Tory we fear most.

Translation:

Clarke is the Tory we most want because he is so much like us!

From Tony Blair:

"The Tories today are no longer the party of low taxes"

Translation:

Absolutely correct! But neither Labour or the Lib Dems were, or are the 'Party of Low Taxes'.

The new, New Labour catch phrase

"Work life balance" - The Socialist new-speak in supporting the European Union's insistence that the UK can't have an opt out from the working time directive.

Translation:

We have to have more unemployment like Europe.

From The Labour Election Campaign:

"Your country's borders protected" - One of the six almost meaningless pledges made by Labour in the current campaign which are eerily similar to the ones they made the first time. (And in light of recent events even more meaningless)

From The Labour Election Campaign Mark 2:

"The economy that this man Gordon Brown has put together........." - Tony Blair referring to the Chancellors 'achievements'.

Reality Check:

"A million manufacturing jobs lost since Labour came to power and a lot of Public Sector jobs created. Rover has gone bankrupt on the Chancellors watch. The rust has finally caught up with the Iron Chancellor, and as for prudence......?

From Charles Clarke:

Referring to I.D. cards - 'Moreover, their help in tackling fraud will save tens of millions of pounds of taxpayers’ money. Some £50 million a year is claimed illegally from the benefits systems using false identities. This money can be far better spent improving schools and hospitals and fighting crime and antisocial behaviour.'

Comment:

The ex-education minister should 'do the math' as they say in the America. A £6 Billion (estimated and rising) cost which will be ongoing just to save £50 Million, doesn't seem like a particularly good deal.

From John Prescott:

'Creating sustainable communities means protecting and enhancing the countryside, and providing green spaces in a safe, healthy local environment. We are determined that future and existing residents' needs - for parks, jobs, services and decent homes - are met.'

Translation:

I have just given the 'green' light for 500,000 homes to be built on green belt land to house yet more New Lab voters, oops immigrants, in Non Labour voting areas. No, local people will not be given any say because we couldn't care less.

From Ian McCartney, 'Chair' of the Labour Party:

'As we come into the last stretch of this historic North East referendum campaign it's more important than ever that people vote 'Yes' to a strong voice for the North East. We are busy campaigning across the North East explaining to local people the importance of voting in this referendum and the real differences that an Elected Regional Assembly could make to their lives.'

Comment:

As in Scottish Parliament, Welsh Assembly, London Assembly?

From Tony Banks 'Hunt Czar'

He achieved “no satisfaction” from helping people living in his constituency who he thought were boring. Their complaints were “tedious in the extreme” and being an MP was like a high powered social worker. On the legal challenge to the hunting ban his opinion was that they were doomed. "Parliament is the highest court. There is not a superior court."

Comment:

If only he gave his constituents the same care and consideration he has for foxes, and he has conveniently forgotten that the E.U. court has supremacy over our Parliament.

Who said this?

"And instead of wasting hundreds of millions of pounds on compulsory ID cards as the Tory Right demand, let that money provide thousands of extra police officers on the beat in our local communities."

Answer:

Tony Blair in 1995

Is this someone from UKIP?

"Giving up the Pound and handing control of our economy to unelected European bankers would be economically disastrous and politically dangerous......Democracy would be consigned to the scrapheap......What scope would remain for national governments to shape policy in line with their electoral mandates? Virtually none......It would be a recipe for unemployment and social unrest......History suggests that democracy could face a threat as it did in the 1930s......Expanding the EU would only make matters worse......The idea that creating one country called Europe could ever work like the USA was a pipe dream......It is ridiculous to think that people will continually up sticks and run round Europe in search of jobs".

Answer:

No this was said by Peter Hain! (Who recently said, "Those campaigning for a referendum might as well put away their placards and stop wasting their money, because we are not going to do it")

From Jack McConnell, the First Minister, in the Scottish Parliament

'Unemployment was at a 30-year low in Scotland — one of a set of “fantastic” economic indicators for the country'

Reality Check:

Altogether, there are now 688,000 economically inactive people between the ages of 16 and 65 in Scotland, more than one in four of the total workforce north of the border.
